The marine environment is in fact full of natural sounds

An ever increasing number of sounds of human origin have helped raise the general noise level of the oceans. The scale of the impact and effect of these sounds on the maritime environment and on marine life is currently a matter of great interest and concern both to the scientific community and the public at large. The scientific interest stems from the need to better understand the impact of the production and the perception of these sounds on the behaviour, physiology and ecology of marine creatures.
